The Cape Floral Region – one of the world’s richest plant zones

The Cape Floral Region is a World Heritage Site and one of the richest plant areas in the world, comprising less than 1% of the African continent, yet sustaining 20% of its flora!

In 2004 the Cape Floral Region – a protected area measuring 553 000ha – was declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). World heritage sites acknowledge and offer protection to areas of outstanding natural, historical and cultural value. South Africa boasts eight such sites.

A blog about bogs

Water, water everywhere (it covers about 75% of the planet) … but only 1% to drink. That’s why every drop of H2O counts! And since the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway is committed to protecting the ecosystem it operates within and to conserving the Earth’s finite resources, it makes sense that the company would implement a sewage system that optimises water savings. It’s to this end that chemical toilets were installed, 13 years ago, on the mountain.

Do your bit for Earth Day

Today marks the 40th anniversary of World Earth Day – it was launched on April 22, 1970, by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson and has since grown into a global movement, reportedly supported by most of the world’s nations.

The wonderful winter special returns

From May 1, families that visit the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway will gain access to a fabulous winter special – two children (under the age of 18) can make a return trip for free when accompanied by one adult, who pays full price. This translates into just R160 for a group of three and a saving of R160.
