Annual maintenance 2016: that's a wrap!

Resurfacing of the pathways at the Upper Station

Every year a photographer captures our scheduled annual maintenance to give our visitors a glimpse of what happens during our two-week shut down period. This year, we invited a videographer to film behind-the-scenes and shared the video on our Facebook page.

This year's annual maintenance work included the replacement of the Upper Station generator, maintenance of the 11kV electricity line, cleaning of ropes and slack rope tests, renewing switches and bearings, and servicing of the main gearbox, generators and backup generators, as well as general electronic component changes and control checks.

And in an effort to ensure continuous improvement to the visitor experience, the Cableway carried out various infrastructure refurbishments at both the Upper and Lower Stations. Here are our five favourite photos that capture it all:

Retiling of the Shop at the Top roof to improve waterproofing

Refurbishing of Lower Station toilets

Renovation of the Café ramp and coffee bar to improve visitor flow and ergonomics

Greasing the cables as part of the general Cableway maintenance

Maintenance of the 11kV electricity line
