Father Christmas on Table Mountain

Father Christmas will make a special trip to the top of Table Mountain this year with presents for children of all ages.

He forms part of Table Mountain Cableway’s dedicated children’s entertainment programme this festive season. The Cableway’s Dassie Den, an area devoted entirely to children’s activities, will be open from Tuesday December 16 to Tuesday January 15, 2009. The play area is open daily from 9am until 4.30pm.

The Dassie Den is specially designed for the summer school holidays where activities include a Christmas Fairy play; magic and puppet shows; as well as High School Musical dancing lessons. Kids can also try their hand at pass-the-parcel, bubble making, action songs and pick-a-box. Parents can relax in the nearby lounge where light refreshments are available.

“It is important for families to be in a place where everyone can be entertained. The Dassie Den provides a safe and fun place for kids, while parents can relax and enjoy the magnificent 360-degree view,” says Sabine Lehmann, CEO of the Cableway.

If you are unable to go up the mountain during the day, take advantage of the half price Sunset Special valid after 6pm. Adults pay only R72.50 per person return while children under 18 years pay R38 return. The special is valid every evening until end February 2009, including New Year’s Eve. The last car comes down at 9.30pm until Monday December 15, and at 10pm from Tuesday December 16 until Thursday January 15, 2009.
