Mr Monopoly launches Cape Town’s very own Monopoly board game

After months of waiting, Cape Town is the first South African city to get its own version of the game

The wait is finally over – Cape Town’s very own Monopoly board game was revealed at the V&A Waterfront today.

Capetonians were encouraged to submit what they'd like to see on the board, and Mr Monopoly himself did a tour of Cape Town. Each stop he visited left people wondering whether their attraction would have a spot on the beloved family board game.

Mr Monopoly fans at the launch

In late October we had the pleasure of hosting Mr Monopoly at the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, and he also visited our Cape Town Big 7 partners, Robben Island Museum, Cape Point, City Walk, Kirstenbosch, Groot Constant and the V&A Waterfront.

At the launch of the Monopoly Cape Town board game today, Mr Monopoly revealed that the Cape Town Big 7 attractions will be featured in the official game. And we couldn’t be happier here at the Cableway to be a part of a game that will be sold globally.

Representatives of the Cape Town Big 7 all attended the global launch. Among the attendees was our marketing manager, Collette Van Aswegen (seen holding the board game)

“We are excited to have the Cableway be a part of this historic venture for Cape Town,” said Sabine Lehmann, managing director of the Cableway.

“With our strategic placement on this family game board, we’ll be showcasing our awe-inspiring experiences to millions of families and potential visitors across the globe, and we can’t wait to have them join us in the years to come.”

To find out more about the other top attractions featured in Monopoly Cape Town, you will have to get your very own at the V&A Waterfront to enjoy with your family and friends.
