Skydiving granny’s 100th birthday bash at the top of Table Mountain

When Cape Town’s most adventurous grandmother, the incomparable Georgina Harwood, requested a visit to Table Mountain for her 100th birthday on Tuesday 10 March, the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway was happy to oblige.

Young at heart and still up for an adventure! Georgina Harwood celebrated her 100th birthday at Table Mountain on Tuesday 10 March 2015

Not only did we treat Granny Georgina, her extended family and members of the media to a ride in our state-of-the-art cable car, our green team also pulled out all the stops (sparkling wine, cake and refreshments) for this inspirational senior’s birthday bash at the summit.

Georgina has been making headlines with her tandem parachute-jumping escapades since her skydiving adventure on her 92nd birthday in 2006. She will be skydiving for a third time with one of her seven great-grandchildren on Saturday 14 March 2015.

Birthday girl Georgina's mountaintop bash is just one of the amazing experiences Cape Town Tourism has arranged for her. In addition to skydiving, the week’s activities include a City Sightseeing bus ride and more.

What an honour for me to represent the Cableway team in welcoming Georgina at her mountaintop birthday bash.

A Rondebosch resident, Georgina is mom to four children and has 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. When she’s not defying gravity, this witty pensioner is an ardent baker, bridge player and fundraiser for the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI).

What an inspiration! Happy, happy birthday, Granny Georgina!
