Today we ‘Welcome’ the Cableway's 23-millionth visitor!

We’ve reached another great milestone at the Cableway – this morning, we were proud to have received our 23-millionth visitor since we opened in 1929. Thamsanqa Welcome Peter, from Port Elizabeth, was the lucky man, and Cableway staff and members of the media were there to congratulate him.

Watch the short video below:

It has taken just 14 months to get from 22-million to 23-million visitors – the last person to share this important milestone with us was Terche April, from George, who visited in November 2012. Today’s milestone also marks the shortest time taken to reach a million visitors.

Thamsanqa and his wife Phindiwe enjoyed a free ride on the cable car, and received a goodie bag filled with Cableway merchandise from the Shop at the Top, and some delicious treats from Table Mountain Café.

“Cape Town is an exciting place,” said Peter. “People of every colour are very warm here, that’s why I love Cape Town.”

“When you visit Cape Town, and you don’t come to Table Mountain, it’s not a visit.”

Surprise! Thamsanqa walks off with his hamper, filled with Cableway goodies

Congratulations, Thamsanqa!
