The Cableway offers a wide variety of exquisite indoor and outdoor venues, perfect for functions, meetings, weddings, conferences, parties, incentives and more. There are two indoor venues and four outdoor venues available. Why not treat your guests or colleagues to a special mountain-top occasion they’re sure to remember for years to come?

With incredible views, top-class catering facilities and an opportunity to explore one of the New7Wonders of Nature, Table Mountain is the perfect place to host your event. Our venues can host up to 400 people, with smaller venues available to suit smaller groups.

The Summit Lounge

  • Situated in the Upper Cable Station building
  • U-shaped venue boasting two private balconies, one facing Devil’s Peak (capacity: 15 people), and one facing the Twelve Apostles mountain range (capacity: 30 people)
  • Ideally suited for cocktail-style/standing functions, with scattered barstool seating, a lounge area and picnic table seating available
  • Includes a three-hour allocation for set-up and breakdown of the function area
  • Maximum capacity: 120 people (full Summit Lounge venue); Summit Lounge outdoor balcony only – max. capacity: 30 people; Summit Lounge bar section only – max. capacity: 60 people; Summit Lounge lounge section only – max. capacity: 60 people

The Twelve Apostles Terrace

  • Open-air venue, situated below the Table Mountain Café, facing the Twelve Apostles mountain range
  • A large section of the Twelve Apostles Terrace is cordoned off for functions – it is recommended that function groups wear easily identifiable tags, lanyards or badges
  • Ideally suited for morning breakfast and evening cocktail functions – however, this is a standing venue, and tables and chairs are not recommended due to the uneven ground surface
  • Currently the only designated smoking area on the mountain
  • Wheelchair-friendly
  • Includes a three-hour allocation for set-up and breakdown of the function area
  • Subject to weather conditions
  • Maximum capacity: 200 people

Lower Deck at the Lower Station

  • A partially covered open-air deck venue situated at the LOWER STATION, above the gift shop’s and Visitor’s center.
  • This deck faces the City Center and Lion’s Head and is ideal for sunset cocktail functions.
  • Maximum capacity is 65 people, standing.
  • Includes set up and breakdown, two hour allocation. This deck is not a plan B in the event of rain.

The Café Terrace Balcony

  • Open-air balcony venue situated behind the Table Mountain Café and above the Twelve Apostles Terrace, facing the Twelve Apostles mountain range
  • Ideally suited for sunset cocktail functions
  • Turnaround time of three hours
  • Maximum capacity: 35 people, standing

Menus & Catering


The Cableway offers a choice of fresh and exciting in-house menus to suit your function, and is fully licensed. We offer snack platter menus with predominantly standing cocktail events.

One waiter is allocated per every 20 people to be hosted at your function. 10% gratuity is charged on all food and beverages, and will be pre-invoiced prior to your function.

Table Mountain Cableway is currently offering the Summit Lounge Sundowner Package on top of Table Mountain at R229.00 per person (excluding return Cableway tickets). Read more on this special offer.

Useful information

Weather permitting: Please note that the Cableway’s function venues are all weather-dependent. Should the wind be too strong, the Cableway will close due to safety reasons. In this instance, there are currently no alternative venues available on site. Please bear this in mind when booking a venue. Visit our online weather page for a two-day weather forecast, or contact us on +27 (0)21 424 8181 for more information.

Should your function with the Cableway be cancelled due to strong wind at the top station, we may be able to accommodate your group at our lower station deck.

Last-minute functions: Faced with a last-minute change to your group’s itinerary? Call us on the day, not more than two hours before your expected time of arrival, and we can provide your group with an exclusive area, snacks and beverages. This option is subject to availability at our Lower station deck, and caters for a maximum of 65 people.


Please note

  • All prices exclude the cost of Cableway tickets, which can be purchased online or at the cableway ticket office.
  • All venues are subject to whether or not the Cableway is open on the day of your event.
  • The maximum capacity of the venues is based on cocktail party numbers, and not seated functions.
  • Venue hire includes tables, service equipment and service staff requirements.
  • We do not offer sit down functions.
  • We do not charge a non-refundable booking fee.
  • Full payment of all function costs is required 48 hours prior to the start of the function.
