A visit from the Overstrand Youth Care Centre

A visit from the Overstrand Youth Care Centre

The Cableway aims to provide access to Table Mountain to all South Africans. Requests for complimentary and concession tickets are considered from registered NGOs, NPOs and community organisations.

With that in mind, we were recently paid a visit by the Overstrand Youth Care Centre, which looks after boys and girls between the ages of six and 14.

The children enjoyed a fun day out, and manager Theresa Els shared this feedback with us:

On Monday, the 23rd of September 2013, the Overstrand Youth Care Centre treated their children to a day in the city. First stop was the Waterfront, where a kind boat operator donated a cruise of the harbour to the children. Refreshments of sandwiches and drinks were enjoyed alongside the Waterfront seafront.

Then it was off to Table Mountain for a ride in the cable car. Although the queues were long, people were very kind and accommodating to the 22 children and assisted us in getting up to the top as soon as possible. The children were overwhelmed with the views from the top, but riding in the cable car itself was a great experience for them. Too soon it was time to come back to Kleinmond, with one stop on the way back for ice-creams.

To Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, a BIG, BIG thank-you for donating 26 complimentary tickets to Overstrand Child & Youth Care Centre.

Kind regards

Theresa Els
