International Yoga Day at the summit of Table Mountain
On Thursday, 21 June 2018, we welcomed the Consul General of India, Abhishek Shukla, and his guests for a special International Yoga Day celebration at the summit of Table Mountain.
Here are few social media posts of the event:
Another absolutely amazing International Day of Yoga; with a front row seat for the Flowing Nomads. What a privilege it was to guide a group of Yogis through the Yoga Day Protocol atop one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature – Cape Town’s very own Table Mountain. We are in awe of Consul General Abhishek Shukla’s open mind and open heart as himself and his team planned and accomplished a historical celebration of Yoga 1067m above sea level. This being the forth International Day of Yoga celebration in the middle of a Cape winter, and the weather played along wonderfully, endless blue skies and a 360 view from East and West coast to the peninsula. Guiding the Consul General himself and his team, City of Cape Town’s Committee Chair of Safety and Social Services, Councillor Mzwakhe Nqavashe, the legend of backward point, Mr Jonty Rhodes; and every Yogi and Yogini that was present, is certainly a highlight of Flowing Nomads' encounters through Yoga. There is something about being a part of this Yoga community, locally and globally, and such a deep sense of pride in our students who braved the cold to be up top as demonstrators – you did an amazing job. Once again, we’re reminded of the gift of Yoga – bringing people together, creating unity. It truly felt like one big happy family up there. To watch one of my very first student teachers guiding this group with such grace, showing his dedication and gift to the practice of Yoga with such authenticity and love, simply fills my heart with joy, love and immense pride! Hunter has certainly become a beautiful teacher, inspiring me and others wherever he flows. Yoga has once again allowed us to cultivate friendship, a sense of community and purpose. In the words of India’s Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi – “Yoga is the journey from ‘me’ to ‘we’.” Proud. Elated. Honoured. @darrylgouws ; @henkpix #idy2018 #idycpt #yoga #yogi #wanderlust #travelingyogis #pravaha #yogaanywhere #yogaeverywhere #instayogi #worldofyoga #yogini #yogasouthafrica #yogisofinstagram #yogapractice #yogaeverydamnday #yogisofig #worldyoga #instagram_sa #practiceandalliscoming #flowingnomads #yogateacher #yogaambassadorchallenge
