Class in the Clouds 2026

  Return to blog

At Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, learning does not happen in a classroom. Since 2001, our flagship Class in the Clouds environmental education programme has welcomed over 367 000 primary and high school learners, giving them the opportunity to explore Table Mountain while learning about its fauna and flora, history, and geography in a truly natural classroom.

Every year, we welcome more than 15,000 learners. Many of them are visiting Table Mountain for the first time. For learners from disadvantaged backgrounds, Class in the Clouds is a special and exciting experience. It shows how learning can be more meaningful when learners can see and explore the world around them.

The 2026 Class in the Clouds programme runs from Monday, 2 March – Friday, 30 October 2026. It takes place Monday to Friday only and does not run during school holidays, public holidays, weekends, or the Cableway’s Annual Maintenance period (dates to be announced).

The programme is open to Grade 1 to Grade 12 learners. Each booking can include 10 to 100 learners per time slot. For every 10 primary school learners or 15 high school learners, one teacher can attend for free. Any extra adults must pay the normal adult price. Teachers may bring snacks or lunch for learners.
