Framing the view from the top of Table Mountain
We are thrilled to share some exciting news that brings together history, and tourism all in one moment: we have just unveiled our very own New 7 Wonder of Nature yellow frame, right at the summit of Table Mountain.
In celebration of Heritage and Tourism Month, we unveiled striking yellow New 7 Wonder of Nature frame at the Shop at the Top, offering visitors a one-of-a-kind chance to literally frame their experience a top of the mountain.
For those of you who’ve explored Cape Town, you may already be familiar with the original series of yellow frames that were placed around the city as part of the World Design Capital 2014 legacy project. These installations were created after Table Mountain was officially named one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature back in 2011 a proud moment for us all!
Now the total number of New 7 Wonders of Nature frames has been restored to seven, after replacing the one previously located at Cape Town Station Forecourt.
Why This Frame is so Special?
What makes this new addition particularly meaningful its new location. While the other six frames offer fantastic views of Table Mountain, this one allows you to enjoy a breathtaking, framed view from the top looking out over the City Bowl, Atlantic Ocean, and beyond.
It’s a unique photo opportunity, whether you’re a first-time visitor or a lifelong Capetonian. More than that, it’s a celebration of the mountain’s place not only in our skyline, but in our cultural and emotional landscape.
“This New7Wonders of Nature frame is more than just a structure, it’s a marker of Table Mountain’s place in our history and in our hearts. It gives visitors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to frame Cape Town from the top of one of the New7Wonders of Nature, something you cannot experience anywhere else,” said Wahida Parker, Managing Director of TMACC, at the unveiling.
Where to Find the Frames
In case you’re keen to hunt down all seven frames for a photo adventure of your own, here’s where they’re located:
- Signal Hill
- V&A Waterfront – next to Den Anker
- V&A Waterfront Silo District
- Eden on the Bay in Bloubergstrand
- Lookout Hill in Khayelitsha
- Harrington Square in District Six
- And now, the brand-new one at the Shop at the Top – Table Mountain Summit
Whether you’re showing or visiting friends around or simply rediscovering Cape Town yourself, we highly recommend making a stop at the top. The view framed from above is something truly unforgettable.
