We are pleased to announce that our Board has appointed Tracy Mkhize as the next Managing Director of Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC), effective 1 October 2026.

Tracy joins us from the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), where she has served as Chief Operating Officer since 2023. She previously led the centre’s Operations, Food and Beverage division as General Manager and has chaired the Cape Town Tourism Board since 2023.

Following a comprehensive appointment process, Tracy stood out as the best candidate to head up TMACC.

She succeeds Wahida Parker, who has served two five-year terms as our Managing Director. Wahida will remain closely involved throughout the transition, helping ensure that the knowledge, relationships and strong foundations built over the years are carried forward.

"I started my career breeding trees for a forestry company, so moving into a role within a national park feels like a full-circle moment for me. My high school’s motto was 'shine where you are', which resonates with me to show up with excellence, purpose, and courage to illuminate the path for others and leave every place better than I found it. I cannot think of a more fitting place to live that out than on this mountain,” said Tracy Mkhize.

Tracy brings with her extensive experience across operations, hospitality, business events, governance, risk management and sustainability. Her career began in forestry research before moving into hospitality and gaming, where she spent more than a decade with Peermont Global. She later moved into the convention and business events sector, including her time at the CTICC.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tracy helped lead the CTICC’s food and beverage operation through an extraordinary period. The centre’s catering operation and food-safety certification were repurposed to support a temporary field hospital, helping preserve jobs and sharing knowledge that was later requested by a hospital looking to replicate the model.

Originally from Gauteng, Tracy moved to Cape Town in July 2016 and has since become an important part of the city’s tourism, hospitality and business events community.

As Wahida prepares to hand over the reins, she reflects on what leadership means and the importance of looking ahead.

“Leadership is not about holding on; it is about knowing when to entrust what the team have built to someone who is ready to take it forward. Tracy will inherit the knowledge, team, relationships and responsibility that define this company, but the future will be hers to shape. My responsibility is to make that transition seamless for the benefit of the industry, staff, our partners, and the millions of visitors who come to experience this iconic New 7 Wonders of Nature site,” said Wahida Parker.

We are proud of the journey we have taken as a company and excited about what lies ahead.

Since 4 October 1929, the Cableway has carried visitors to the top of Table Mountain. In December 2025, we welcomed our 33-millionth visitor another milestone in a story that has been part of Cape Town for almost a century.

Operating within Table Mountain National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we also have a responsibility that goes beyond taking people up the mountain. Through our Supplier Development and Suppliers Excellence Programmes, we continue to support employment and enterprise development in the Western Cape.

As Tracy joins our team, we look forward to welcoming her to the mountain and to this next chapter for the Cableway.
