Did you know that on 17 November 2021, South Africans – along with the rest of the world – celebrate #TakeAHike Day? We’re inviting you, your friends and your colleagues to take part in this fun day while working towards a good cause.

This is the second year we’re taking part in #TakeAHike Day after the event’s huge success last year!

• Start your hike at Platteklip Gorge, where you will receive a bag to collect any trash you see on your hike up Table Mountain

• The mountain clean-up will take place from 7am to 3pm

• If you’d prefer to hike a different route to Platteklip, you’re more than welcome to bring your own rubbish bags and collect trash on the way to the Table Mountain summit – and you’ll still get a free cable car ride down on presentation of your filled trash bag

• Once on the Table Mountain summit, empty your trash in the allocated bins

• Use the hashtag #TakeAHikeWithTableMountain while hiking, so we can see you on your adventure

• Hikers who assist with the mountain clean-up will get a free trip down Table Mountain in our cable car

• Hikers are encouraged to start their hike as early as possible, not only to avoid the midday sun but also to catch the last ride down, which will depart from the summit at 5pm sharp

• A snack pack, which includes a 10% discount coupon from Cape Union Mart, which has also committed to take part in this year’s clean-up

• A R10 coffee voucher from Vida e Caffè at the Cableway

• A free one-way ticket from the Cableway (as will all hikers taking part in #TakeAHike Day)
